An Essex council's quirky approach to recycling

Ahead of the start of food waste recycling collections in Basildon next month, the council's uploaded a video to the internet about it.

The 5 minute quirky educational film's made in 1970s style and is to motivate people to recycle their food waste.

It demonstrates how much we have left over, the effect on the environment and then moves on to how the scheme itself works.

A Kitchen caddy's being delivered to everyone in Basildon over the next few weeks (the video shows you what can go in it) and then any food waste is transferred into the wheeled bin outside, ready for collection (the same day as your black bags are collected).

Other parts of the county, including Southend, already have food waste collections.
