Essex: Knighthood For Colchester MP

Colchester MP Bob Russell is one of the Essex figures recognised in the New Year Honours List.

He receives a knighthood for public service. Sir Bob told Heart that the knighthood was unexpected: "It's a huge surprise... I'm now in my fifteenth year as MP for my home town which is an honour in itself.

"I'm flattered to receive a knighthood - pleased to bits!"

There is also a knighthood for former Tesco chairman David Reid from Great Dunmow, whilst Essex County Council leader Peter Martin is awarded an MBE for services to local government.
