Fatal Crash On A12 Near Brentwood

Police continue to appeal for witnesses following a fatal crash on the A12, near Brentwood.

Officers were called at 0547hrs on Thursday, 3 July, to a collision between a van and a lorry on the Essex-bound A12, near to the Brook Street roundabout.
 
Officers, London Ambulance Service and London Fire Brigade attended the scene.
 
A 26-year-old man, who had been travelling into work as a passenger in the van, was pronounced dead at the scene.

He has now been formally identified as Ronnie Marshall, 26, of Romford.

The driver of the van was also injured. He was taken to hospital and discharged the same day. There were no reports of any other injuries.
 
Detective Sergeant Cheryl Frost of the Serious Collision Investigation Unit based at Alperton Traffic Garage leads the investigation. She said: "I am appealing to anyone who witnessed this collision, or the events leading up to this collision to speak to police.
 
"The A12 is a major London route and would have been busy with traffic, even at this time of the morning. If you saw anything, please contact us."
