A man in his 50s has died following a crash between two lorries on the M25 in Essex.

The vehicles, one which was carrying whisky, collided and caught fire clockwise between junction 27 for the M11 and 28 for the A12 just before one this morning (Friday May 25th).

A Metropolitan Police spokesman said the dead man's lorry collided with another lorry then caught fire.

"The closure, between Junctions 27 and 28, is expected to remain in place into the morning and drivers are advised to seek alternative routes if possible," he said.

The driver of the second vehicle suffered minor injuries.

The anticlockwise section of the road re-opened just after 6am but The Highways Agency say the carriageway is unlikely to reopen before early to mid afternoon as the vehicles have to be recovered and the carriageway needs to be resurfaced.
