Man Remanded On Essex Lake Murder Charge

A man accused of murdering a father-of-five and disposing of his body parts in a lake has denied the killing.

53-year-old Douglas Binet from Hanson Drive in Looughton is accused of murder after arms belonging to Anthony Whitefield, 42, were found in a fishing lake in Essex.

Appearing at Chelmsford Crown Court today, Binet pleaded not guilty to the murder alleged to have happened between February 6th and March 31st this year.

Taxi driver Mr Whitefield had been missing for almost two months when anglers found a severed arm near a lake off Greenfield Road in Loughton on March 31st. Two days later police found a second arm in the lake.

Officers found further body parts after searching a property in the town.

Binet was remanded in custody until his trial beginning on November 14th.
