A man's been knocked unconscious and stabbed after trying to stop an argument on London Road.
It happened on Friday just before midnight near the Iceland on London Road.
The victim was walking down the road when he saw a man and woman arguing. When he tried to intervene in the argument, he was attacked from behind by what he believes were two other people.
He was knocked unconscious and when he came round he realised he had a stab wound in his side.
Investigating Officer, Detective Alex Deacon, said: "The victim did not see who attacked him but the man and the woman who were arguing are described as a black male, taller than 5ft 8in, of skinny build, aged in his 20s and holding a dark coloured mountain bike, while the woman was white, in her 20s with blonde hair.
"This happened close to Iceland on London Road and if anyone has any information that could assist me I would ask them to call me at Southend CID on 101 or ring Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111."
