Man Wanted After Attempted Robbery In Chelmsford
5 September 2014, 10:42
Police are looking for a man from Suffolk who's wanted in connection with the attempted robbery of a special police officer.
The attacked happened on Rainsford Road in the early hours of Bank Holiday Sunday 24 August.
The woman was forced to stop her car by a man standing in the middle of the road, he then asked her to give him a lift to the high street.
When she refused he tried to grab the car keys and punched her in the head, she managed to fight him off and drive away though.
The woman in her 50s was left with minor bruising and swelling.
Police are linking this to a similar attack a few hours later on Chignal Road when a woman had a man bang on her car window demanding a lift.
Investigating Officer, Dc Louise Wilson, said: "This was a frightening experience for the first woman and totally unacceptable behaviour from the man. I want to identify the man captured on CCTV and speak to him about his potential involvement in this incident. There is a suggestion he is from the Ipswich area."
The man's described as white, aged between 20 and 40, with straight short brown hair and as wearing a dark suit, light shirt, burgundy tie and smart shoes.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Chelmsford police station on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
