A body found in a river in Ware has now been identified as a missing man.

31-year-old Daniel Cockman disappeared on Tuesday.

Later that night police received reports from members of public living in the area around Broadmeads of a man who was believed to be in the river shouting for help.

Specialist dive teams searched the River Lea on Wednesday and found the body of a man shortly after 2pm.

A post mortem will be taking place today (Thursday 16 June) to establish the cause of his death.

A 40-year-old man and a 27-year old-woman - both from Ware - have been arrested and remain in police custody.

DCI Peter Fulham is investigating and said: “Our thoughts are with Daniel’s family at this very difficult time. We are systematically working to establish Daniel’s last movements and how he lost his life.

“I would like to speak to anyone who was in Ware on Tuesday and believes they saw Daniel. I would be particularly keen to speak with anyone who may saw or heard anything close to the river during the course of the evening.
