Two Men Charged After Southend Murder

Police have this morning (Monday November 21st) charged two men with the murder of another man in a block of flats in Southend.

45-year-old Christopher Ryan was found with head injuries at his home in Coleman Street on Thursday (November 17th) - but died in hospital two days later.

Charged with his murder are 39-year-old John Nafzger of Westbury Road in Southend, and 23-year-old Christopher Walker of Mansted Gardens in Rochford.

Both are also charged with one count of robbery.

They are due to appear before Southend Magistrates this morning.

Three other people have been arrested and are currently on police bail until December 23 while investigations continue.

A post-mortem examination carried out on Saturday, gave a provisional cause of death as head injury.
