Right to ask police about paedophiles

Now that parents and carers in Essex have the right to ask if anyone who's in contact with their children is a paedophile, the police want to make sure we know how to use the service.

They've made a guide showing how 'Sarah's Law' works, like who can apply to find out the information, when disclosures are made and how to make an application.

It's named after Sarah Payne, the 8-year-old murdered by a sex offender ten years ago.

Eight Police forces started using it this week, the rest will follow next year.
