Sadlers Farm Update For Drivers

17 June 2011, 06:00

The dedicated left-turn carriageway on the A130 (Canvey Way) to the A13 towards Pitsea will be temporarily closed from today (Friday 17 June).

It's so work on the next phase of the Sadlers Farm Junction Improvement Scheme can take place.

The construction programme has now reached a stage where significant re-profiling works need to be carried out on the existing eastbound A13 (from Church Road Bridge to Sadlers Farm) to facilitate the strategic link between the A13 and A130.

There are currently three lanes available to traffic exiting the A130 (Canvey Way) to Sadlers Farm, one of which is marked as a left turn lane to the A13 towards Pitsea.

In addition there is a short length of dedicated left-turn carriageway (A130 Canvey Way to Pitsea).

As a result of the road re-profiling works and to ensure driver safety the left-turn carriageway is to be closed over the summer months.

During the closure period motorists turning left from the A130 to the A13 will be required to do so via the roundabout.

Two lanes will run in each direction of the existing westbound A13 and newly hardened central reserve.

County Councillor Tracey Chapman, Cabinet Member for Highways & Transportation said: “The lane closure is required in order to allow us to complete this important phase of the Sadlers Farm Improvement Scheme, and we apologise in advance for any inconvenience caused. When completed this scheme will deliver better journeys for thousands of motorists.”
