Essex Schoolboy Seriously Hurt

A 12 year old boy's been seriously hurt after he was hit by a pick-up truck in Harlow.

He was outside the sports centre in London Road when he was struck by a silver Toyota Hilux on Friday afternoon.

The boy, a pupil at Mark Hall school, received leg injuries and was taken to Princess Alexandra Hospital where his condition was said to be serious but not life-threatening.

Investigating officer Pc Michele Lockyer said: “We would like to thank all those members of the public who provided assistance at the scene and those who were directly affected or disrupted due to the road closures at the very busy school collection time.”

A 39-year-old man from Harlow who was arrested at the scene on suspicion of drink driving and dangerous driving was bailed until March 26 while investigations continue.
