Detectives in Southend finally get justice for assault victim despite the suspect being on the run for three years.
A Southend woman who went on the run in 2011 after being charged with assault has been jailed for 4 years after being extradited to the UK.

After being charged with the offence in 2011, Martina McGrath breached her bail and went on the run. She was featured in a BBC Crimewatch appeal in April 2013, where a number of people came forward to say that she was in Limerick in Ireland.
From this information, a European arrest warrant was obtained and she was extradited back to the UK in March of this year. She pleaded guilty to wounding with intent and possessing an offensive weapon on Wednesday April 16 and was sentenced to 4 years imprisonment
