Southend: Man Charged Over Fatal Stabbing

A 34-year-old man has been charged with murder and attempted murder after two elderly people were stabbed in Southend.
A man and woman in their 80s received knife wounds at a sheltered accommodation flat on Burr Hill Chase on Thursday afternoon (14 November).
The man, 84-year-old John Anker, died at the scene.
His 81-year-old wife is in a stable condition in hospital.
34-year-old Anthony Winter, of Westborough Road in Westcliff, has been charged with murder and attempted murder and will appear at Chlemsford Magistrates Court this morning (Saturday 16 November 16).
He has been remanded in custody prior to his appearance.
