Stansted: Man Jailed For Attempted Drug Smuggling
A man who tried to smuggle more than £400,000 worth of cocaine through Stansted Airport has been jailed.
42 year old Kwame Raymond from Thamesmead was stopped by Border Force officers at the Essex airport in January after arriving on a flight.
He admitted to swallowing packages containing the drugs and later pleaded guilty to drug trafficking charges.
Forensic tests later revealed that the packages contained around 2.2 kilos of cocaine, which if cut and sold on the streets in the UK would have had an estimated value of around £421,000.
Raymond has now been sentenced to 5 years in prison at Isleworth Crown Court.
