An elderly man has been scammed out of £10,000 just 24 hours after a woman in the same area was conned out of £5,000.

The man in his 70s was contaced by someone posing as a police officer on Tuesday.

It comes after a woman was conned out of £5,000 the day before.

In both cases the victims were contacted by a man who said he was investigating fraud at their respective banks.

The trickster got them to withdraw a large sum of money by saying their bank notes needed to be forensically examined.
