A woman has been left with serious leg injuries after she was hit by a car in Westcliff.

Emergency services were called to Ditton Court Road, near its junction with Hamlet Court Road, at around 11.45am yesterday (Friday, 6 December).

The woman, thought to be in her 60s and from the Westcliff area, was standing in the carriageway near a silver coloured Vauxhall Toureg which was parked in the road.

There was a collision with a blue coloured Chevrolet Aveo which was being driven by a woman in her 80s, who also lives in the local area.

The pedestrian was trapped by the vehicle and needed medical treatment at the scene.

She was taken to Southend Hospital but has since been transferred to the Royal London Hospital.

Witnesses to the collision are asked to contact Essex Police on 101 or email collisionappeal@essex.pnn.police.uk
