Wickford: Man Dies After Hit By Car On A127

A man has died after he was hit by a car on the A127 in Wickford.

It is believed he was trying to cross the road at 10pm yesterday (Sunday 16 February) when he was struck by a silver Seat Ibiza 16 on the westbound carriageway opposite the Shell petrol station.

The man, who is believed to be in his 30s and who lived locally, died at the scene.

The 47-year-old male car driver was taken to Basildon University Hospital after sustaining minor facial injuries and shock.

He is now recovering at home.

A section of the road were closed until 5:30am this morning while forensic collision investigators carried out their enquiries.
