4 August 2014, 06:19

A woman's been seriously injured in a crash on the M11.

Police are appealing for information following a crash on the M11 northbound yesterday (Sunday, August 3).

It happened at around 11.30am between junctions seven and eight.

There was a collision between a silver Citroen C5 estate and a silver and black Mitsubishi Shogun. The Shogun ended up leaving the carriageway, striking a tree. The Shogun's driver, a 26-year-old woman from Margate, had to be airlifted to the Royal London Hospital. Her condition is described as serious but stable.

The northbound track of motorway was closed to allow the air ambulance to land to take the casualty to hospital and for forensic collision investigators to gather evidence.

Essex Police officers are grateful to motorists who patiently endured the delays whilst this vital work was carried out. They would also like to appeal for anyone who witnessed the incident to contact Pc Paul Lindup at Chigwell Road Policing Unit on Essex Police 101.
