Martin And Su Visit Little Havens

Hear what happened when Martin and Su from Heart Breakfast visited Little Havens Children’s Hospice.

This year, the Have a Heart appeal aims to raise enough money to provide 28 children’s hospices across the UK – including Little Havens in Essex - with a Mini and funding for nursing hours to deliver care and support when and where it is needed most.

Martin and Su had a tour of Little Havens - the only children’s hospice in Essex - and spent time chatting and playing with the children, families, care team and volunteers.

After showing off his dance skills on an X-Box Kinect game Martin said, “I’ll be honest, before I visited Little Havens and met the fantastic kids and staff, I had an image of hospices being sad and gloomy places.

“I couldn’t have been more wrong. It’s an amazingly happy place and Little Havens provides a fantastic, fun and warm environment for the children and their families.”

Little Havens provides respite breaks, symptom control and end-of-life care to children across Essex living with life-limiting conditions. It will cost £2.3 million to run this year. Su added, “Little Havens is an incredible charity – a really inspiring place to see. It obviously costs a lot of money to run - and needs as much support as possible.

“We’re pleased to be doing our bit, but we really need people across Essex to help us by organising their own events to support the Have A Heart appeal, the great work of Children’s Hospices UK and Little Havens Children’s Hospice.”
