More people are risking their lives by not wearing seat-belts in Devon and Cornwall than anywhere else in the South West.
New figures show drivers were caught 3,500 times here in 2008 - nearly double Avon & Somerset's rates.
Inspector Richard Pryce has been speaking exclusively to Heart: "it's extremely frustrating, quite often we go to collisions that would either be non-injury or minor injury and then because the driver or a passenger isn't wearing a seatbelt that then turns into a serious injury or even a fatal collision."
He continued: "it's such a simple thing to do. I have been to far too many collisions where people not wearing seatbelts in the vehicles have resulted in far more serious injuries than were necessary."
