Police are looking into claims a 12-year-old girl was grabbed by a man as she walked her dog.

Police are looking into claims a 12-year-old girl was grabbed by a man as she walked her dog.

The incident is reported to have happened in Station Road between Bourton on the Hill and Blockley between 6pm and 6.30pm on Saturday.

The girl was walking along the B4479 towards Bourton on the Water, when a man appeared in front of her, grabbed her and threatened her with knife.

The man was described as around 5ft 9” tall and aged between 40 and 50-years-old with greying hair but bald on top. He was wearing a balaclava, gloves, dark coloured combat trousers and a sleeveless ‘puffa’ jacket.

The girl was able to free herself and ran up the road towards Blockley, the man left in the opposite direction.

Detective Chief Inspector Andy Wasley said:

“Reports such as this are taken incredibly seriously and investigated thoroughly.  We would urge anyone who saw anything suspicious in the area on Saturday evening to contact us as soon as possible.

“We are also eager to hear from the owner of a small gold/orange car that was parked in a gateway on the road around the time of the incident.

“We would like to reassure the community that incidents such as these are incredibly rare in Gloucestershire that the Bourton on the Hill and Blockley areas remain safe places to live.”
