Crackdown in the Forest of Dean

Safer Community Teams introduce a DPPO.

A DPPO is a Designated Public Place Order which gives police more power to stamp out anti-social behaviour.

The move follow a series of complaints from people living in Newent, Coleford and Cinderford.

The order makes it an offence to continue drinking with the designated area if asked to stop doing so by a police officer or PCSO.

Alcohol or drinks thought to be alcoholic can then be seized by police of the offender continues to ignore requests.

PC Duncan Sleeman said:  "We are robustly working together with with the Forest of Dean Crime and Disorder Reduction Partnership to enforce the DPPO and any breeches against it.

Residents in these areas have had to suffer drink related anti-social behaviour for too long, we now have the tools to deal with this effectively."

Heart News spoke to some people living in Newent... most agreed there has been a problem.
