Extreme flood prevention in Deerhurst

A couple from the village near Tewkesbury raise their house above the flood water

Brenda and Peter Lord took extreme measures after their home was devastated by flooding in 2007.  The house in Deerhurst lies just beyond the massive flood gates to the village, so all the improvements installed by the environment agency don't help protect them.

Incredibly they have managed to raise the building up by a meter - effectively above any flood water they may see in the future.

It cost almost a quarter of a million pounds and took a year and a half...
