Suspected armed robbery in Tewkesbury

Four men are due in court after being charged in connection with an alleged armed robbery in Tewkesbury.

The incident happened at around 2.45pm on Friday as a cash deposit was being made at an ATM machine at the store in Ashchurch road.

A security guard was challenged by a man described as wearing a padded green overall and holding a small firearm.

A large quantity of cash was taken. The offenders then made off in a black VW people carrier.

At around 3.30pm, following a pursuit, a vehicle was stopped in West Bromwich, in the West Midlands, close to junction one of the M5.

Four men, all from Merseyside, have been charged with robbery and possession of an imitation firearm.
