Gloucestershire Police are appealing for potential witnesses to an incident in Tewkesbury to come forward.
At around 7.50pm on Tuesday November 26th police received a report that a 19-year-old local woman had been sexually assaulted whilst in a car. The car stopped on Chance Street in the town.
Investigating officers are eager to hear from anyone who saw a grey Peugeot taxi-car on Chance Street on Tuesday evening, or heard an argument or raised voices. In particular, detectives wish to speak to two women who were walking in the area and helped the victim by pretending to know her.
They were described as being between 45 and 60-years-old. One of them put her arm around the victim. These women, and anyone with information about the incident, are asked to call Gloucestershire Police on 101, quoting incident 418 of November 26.
Information can also be given anonymously by calling Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 or by visiting their website: www.crimestoppers-uk.org and you may receive a reward if someone is arrested and charged.
A 28-year old man from Worcester has been arrested on suspicion of sexual assault in connection to the incident. He has been released on police bail until January 22 2014.
