Woman burgled in her own home

Poice are investigating a violent burglary in which a Cirencester woman was attacked in her home.

Shortly before 8.30pm on Thursday police got a call about three men wearing balaclavas who had forced their way into a house in Bathurst Road.

The group made demands for money and drugs from the 29-year old woman who was alone inside.

The victim has no connection with crime and was unable to give the men what they were asking for.

She was pushed to the floor and her wallet was grabbed and five pounds taken from it.

After making a search of the upstairs bedroom they left on foot in the direction of Chesterton Lane.

The men are all described as being aged around 20 years old, and around 5ft 10ins tall. One was wearing a grey hooded top.

The woman was left shocked but with very minor injuries.

DS Jon Williams of Cirencester CID said: “This must have been a very frightening ordeal for the victim, who is totally unconnected with any criminality. We are doing all we can to find these men.

"I must also stress that incidents of this kind are extremely rare in the town.

“If you saw this group leaving or going into the house that evening or if you have any other information which could help, please get in touch with us.”
