Murray Thompson was last seen in April and his work van was spotted in the Leavesden Road area of Watford around that time.
The van was later found in Bushey and a flat in Watford was later found to have been visited by Mr Thompson and a full forensic search has taken place there.
But there is still no trace of the 34 year old from St Albans.
Police now say that a 30 year old man from Rickmansworth was arrested on Tuesday on suspicion of murder, in connection with the disappearance. He has been released on bail.
Four other men, three from Watford and one from Chiswell Green, have previously been arrested on suspicion of murder.
Last month, Murray's parents made a video appeal and put up five thousand pounds from their own savings as a reward.
Anyone with information about Murray’s disappearance is urged to contact Hertfordshire police via the incident room on 01707 355959 or alternatively call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
