6 Year Old Girl Dies In Car Accident

A six year old girl was killed when she was hit by a car in South Oxhey near Watford this afternoon

She was struck by a Landrover Discovery in Hayling Road at around three o'clock.

The girl was taken to hospital where she died.

Sergeant Chris Kent said: "This is a tragic loss of a young life in these circumstances. The family are being supported by specialist officers at this difficult time. The driver and the occupants of the vehicle were unharmed but obviously shaken by what happened. At the moment we are investigating the circumstances of the collision and whilst we have spoken to a number of people at the scene, we~d be keen to hear from anyone who witnessed what happened and has not yet spoken to officers."
