Police are appealing for witnesses on the anniversary of an attack in Berkhamsted that left a man with life-changing injuries.

In the early hours of Saturday 25th 2010, the victims were walking down the High Street towards the Kebab House.

They were lured into an alleyway by a gang of men where they carried out the unprovoked attack that left them both unconscious.

One of the victims, who wants to remain anonymous, has lost 70 per cent of his hearing and now suffers from short term memory loss

''I was a plumbing apprentice, two years through, and this has come along and I've had to come off it and I've lost my apprenticeship now. I've lost a trade for life.

''The police are trying hard and we're going to try and get them off the streets because to think that they're still out there is just really upsetting and frustrating.''

DC Deborah Keating says they're appealing for anyone to come forward who might have information ''There is a group of people that was seen in the area at the time of the assault, and we're appealing for them to come forward because they might hold some vital information that we would be very interested to hear about. And if anyone has any friends or family who might have been in the location at the time we're asking them to come forward and contact the local police.''
