A Day In The Life

Hertfordshire's police have released a video showing what happens during a typical day for the force.

The five and a half minute video, with an introduction from Chief Constable Andy Bliss, depicts just some of the different aspects of policing in Hertfordshire and gives a flavour of the diversity of activity that officers and staff carry out on a daily basis.

Mr Bliss said: "We felt it was important to have something that shows the communities we serve an idea of the breadth of local policing duties and tasks carried out on their behalf to reduce crime, catch criminals and keep people safe.

"We already have a website loaded with information about the Constabulary, we issue news via social and digital media and regularly provide information to the local and national news media but a video is an excellent way to summarise aspects of policing in a visual way that we can potentially share with an even wider audience."

The video will be used at events and open days, formal and informal meetings and circulated via the internet. The video cost £3,000 to make.  Hertfordshire Constabulary used their own in-house resources to produce it.

Assistant Chief Constable Jon Boutcher who is responsible for the Corporate Communication Department which produced the video, said: “The overwhelming majority of the million plus people living in Hertfordshire today will not need to call upon the police for help as we live in one of the safest counties in the land - every year in recent times we have continued to reduce the number of victims of crime and are determined to achieve a reduction again this year.

"The idea of a video is to enable as many people as possible to see for themselves what the Constabulary does day to day.

"We hope it hits the mark and helps people across Hertfordshire to see that we are working hard to keep crime down and deal with anti-social behaviour.

"We want to show that officers and staff are friendly and approachable, and at the same time, tough on crime and criminals. We welcome your feedback and ask that you watch the video and let us know what you think of it."
