Dementia Donations In Watford

Dementia patients at Watford General are benefiting from donations of music, films and posters.

The Bluebell Ward are collecting unwanted CD's, DVD's and games to help more patients suffering from dementia.

Jeremy Ruppersburg is the Dementia Activities Co-ordinator and says music, films and old posters bring back memories and calm down patients when they get frustrated and upset about their memory loss:

"Music and memories they are very very strong, if you start playing the piano or start singing, the words are so ingrained in their memories that they'll start singing"

Other useful items are clothes and toiletries.

Jeremy says the most of the patients have had to leave home because it's not longer safe for them to live alone and items like this can help create a more homely environment at the hospital.
