Man attacked in Watford

Police are appealing for witnesses and information after a man was attacked in Watford town centre in the early hours of Sunday morning.


The assault happened at around 1.55am in the underpass that runs under the Rickmansworth Road near the pond in the town centre.

The victim, a 23-year-old man from Bovingdon, was making his way to a nearby taxi rank after a night out in the town when he was set upon by a group of males.

The man was initially taken to Watford General Hospital from where, following treatment for serious head injuries, he was taken to Queen’s Square Hospital in London.

Detective Inspector Clare Smith said: “This appears to have been a completely unprovoked attack and I am urging anyone who witnessed the offence or who assisted the victim in the immediate aftermath of the incident to contact police as soon as possible. All calls with be handled discreetly.”
