A father charged with the murder of his four-year-old daughter in Hatfield has been remanded in custody.

A father charged with murdering his four-year-old daughter at their home in Hatfield has been remanded in custody.

30-year-old Carl Wheatley, accused of killing Alexa-Marie, made a two minute appearance at Hatfield Remand Court this morning. 

Magistrate David McCall remanded Wheatley, who was dressed in a dark jumper and tracksuit bottoms, in custody to appear at St Albans crown court on Tuesday 18 March.

Alexa-Marie died at the Lister hospital in Stevenage after police had been called to Queen Bee Court on Wednesday morning.

A post-mortem will take place on Monday.

Tributes Paid To Alexa-Marie

Tributes have been paid to Alexa-Marie, her mother's side of the family said in a statement:

“We are completed stunned and devastated that our beautiful little girl has been taken from us so suddenly. She was truly the most gentle, loving, happy and amazing little soul we had the pleasure of knowing. We would be asked to be left alone to grieve at this traumatic time.”
