It happened shortly before 11.50am yesterday (16 November) on the A41 when for reasons not yet known a silver BMW travelling south-bound veered off the carriageway and down an embankment.
Police, ambulance and fire services were called to the scene as well as a Helimed helicopter. The man was taken to Harefield Hospital but he has since been pronounced dead.
No one else is believed to have been in the car at the time and no other vehicles are currently thought to be involved.
The southbound carriageway and entry slip roads were closed for an investigation and to recover the vehicle.
Police investigating would like to speak to anyone who saw the car leaving the road or who may have seen it in the moments before the incident occurred.
Anyone with information should contact collision investigator PC Bob Hauxwell via the police non-emergency number 101.
