Five Charged In Anti-Drugs Operation

Five men have now been charged following the second phase of an operation to crack down on drugs in Hemel Hempstead.

The arrests took place on Wednesday (Jan 23) and followed seventeen arrested which were made the previous week as part of the same operation.

Eight warrants were executed today in Hemel Hempstead, Watford, St Albans and North London and resulted in the arrest of six men. 

On the advice of Thames and Chiltern Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) the following people have now been charged, appeared at Hatfield Remand Court yesterday (Thu Jan 24) and remanded into custody:

* Ermal Aliaj, aged 31 and from Medway Road in Hemel Hempstead, has been charged with supply of class A drugs.

* Baris Tek, aged 21 and from Whippendell Road in Watford has been charged with supply of class A drugs.

Daniel South, aged 34 and from Sempill Road in Hemel Hempstead, has been charged with supply of class A and class B drugs. He pleaded guilty at Hatfield Remand Court yesterday and was released on bail.

Brian Millgate, aged 48 and from Upper Lattimore Road in St Albans has been charged with supply of class A and B drugs and theft. He was released on police bail.

George Jones, aged 18 and from Curtiss Drive in Watford has been charged with supply of class B drugs. He was released on police bail.

A 50 year-old man from Hemel Hempstead was arrested on suspicion of handling stolen goods. He has been cautioned.

As part of the same operation, a 17 year-old boy from London was arrested on Monday (Jan 21) in London and subsequently charged with the supply of class A drugs. He appears at St Albans Youth Court on Wednesday (Jan 23) and was remanded into custody.

Following last weeks’ arrests the following men have pleaded guilty at court and await sentencing.

* Paul Stanley, aged 45 and from Alexandra Road, Hemel Hempstead - handling stolen goods and supply of class A drugs

* Gerald Donaldson, aged 50 and of no fixed address - handling stolen goods and supply of class A and B drugs

* Danny Francis, aged 30 and from Vestry Road, London - supply of class A drugs

* Christopher Rumney, aged 27 and from Austin Road, Dunstable - supply of class A and B drugs

* Andrew Lockett, aged 35 and from Hyperion Court, Hemel Hempstead - supply of class B drugs and possession of class B drugs.

Chief Inspector for Dacorum Mike Pryce told Heart: "This is the second arrest phase which made further significant arrests of people suspected of being involved in the drugs supply into Hemel Hempstead and other connected offences.

Whilst Hemel Hempstead does not have a major issue with drugs, no more than any other area, we are resolute in ensuring levels remain low and this operation forms part of our on-going work in Dacorum to achieve this."
