The UK's fastest mobile broadband signals have been switched on in Watford today.
The Hatfield-based telecoms giant EE made the announcement today that phone users in Watford can now access 4G - along with 8 other towns and cities across the UK.
Today's switch-on, brings the total number of towns and cities covered by superfast 4GEE mobile technology to 37, just four months after the launch of the service.
Tahir Malik, Regional Manager for Watford EE told Heart: "The arrival of superfast 4G mobile in Watford is great news for residents and businesses in the area. I’m delighted that we’re getting access to 4G so soon after the launch of the service. A lot of mobile users with 4G-ready devices like the Apple iPhone 5 will now be able to upgrade to 4GEE and get the most out of their phone. As the first operator to bring 4G to the UK it’s great that we’re making it accessible to as much of the population as possible, as quickly as possible."
Speaking earlier this month to Heart, the company admits it still has other urban areas across Hertfordshire it still needs to upgrade the coverage for - but hopes the whole county will be 4G covered by the end of 2014.
