Police in St Albans are appealing for witnesses and information following a burglary at an address in London Colney.

At around 8.15pm on Sunday January 5, two men knocked on the door of a 63 year old lady in Five Acres in London Colney. The lady tried to identify the men as she opened the door, but they barged in knocking her over in the process. They then demanded money and searched the living room and bedroom. After finding her purse and some jewellery they left the house and ran off in an unknown direction.

The men are described as white, in their early twenties and around 5’ 6” – 5’8” tall. They were wearing dark hoodies and jogging bottoms.

Investigating Officer DC Neil Pugh said: “This was a very frightening experience for the lady, who although not seriously injured, has been left traumatised by the incident. Preying on the elderly and vulnerable is despicable and we want to trace these men as soon as possible. I would urge anyone with any information to contact me as soon as possible."

Anyone with any information is asked to contact DC Neil Pugh on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111 where information can be given anonymously.
