The 24 year old had been running around Willen Lake at around 7.45pm on Monday 25 June 2012.
As he walked back to his car, which was parked in Middleton, three Asian youths started being racially and verbally abusive to him and threw a large tree branch in his direction.
The victim ran back to his car and called police.
Thames Valley Police say the youths were all between 16 and 20-years-old, slim, and were wearing dark clothing. Two were wearing baseball caps.
When the victim first saw the youths, they were stood under the underpass of the H6 at Willen Lake, where the mini-railway passes.
Detectives are appealing for witnesses.
