A woman out walking her dog was stabbed by a half naked man who stepped out from a hedge at Linden Village near Buckingham.
The 61-year-old was in Pitt Green at just before 5pm yesterday when the man, who was wearing just jogging bottom, stabbed her in the arm before running off.
The woman returned home and called for assistance. She was taken to Milton Keynes General Hospital for treatment and was later discharged.
Thames Valley police say the attacker was white and in his twenties.
Detective Sergeant Pete Collett said:
"This was a completely unprovoked attack which has left the victim deeply shocked, although fortunately not too seriously injured.
"The knife used in the assault has been recovered and a full investigation is underway. I would like to reassure residents that incidents of this nature are very rare in Buckingham and a team of detectives and officers are carrying out a number of enquiries to find the man responsible."
