Network Rail open evening
Network Rail's holding an open evening tonight (Wednesday) for people to find out more about 80 job roles that need filling.
It may be more than two years until Network Rail’s new national centre opens in autumn 2012 – bringing more than 3,000 jobs to Milton Keynes – but the company already has a substantial presence in the city as parts of the business have taken the opportunity to move early as they undergo reorganisations.
The jobs currently available are in Network Rail’s ‘operations planning’ team. This team's responsible for short- and long-term timetable planning, including making sure passenger and freight trains can run while engineers carry out improvements to the railway.
An open evening is being held at Network Rail’s offices on Wednesday 3 March from 4-8pm where people can bring along CVs and talk to managers and existing team members in more detail.
A Network Rail spokesperson said: “Network Rail has made a big commitment to Milton Keynes in choosing the city as the home of our new national centre. During our public consultation last year, we had a great many people asking about recruitment opportunities and expressing a desire to come and work for Network Rail. Recruiting locally will help us become part of the community and shows our desire to play an important role in the city’s future. We look forward to meeting prospective colleagues at our open evening and discussing the benefits of a career on the railway."
