New Beacon Lit

A new pyramid-shaped beacon has been switched on for the first time in Milton Keynes' Campbell Park, to mark the Diamond Jubilee.

The new beacon, which is lit electrically, replaces the old Crow's nest style beacon, which burnt down after being struck by lightning in 2002.

Hundreds of people gathered in Campbell Park after dusk fell on Bank Holiday Monday 4 June 2012 to see the new beacon being switched on by the new Mayor of Milton Keynes, Catriona Morris.
