Disabled Man Attacked with Brick

Detectives have also released a CCTV image of a man they would like to identify and talk to in connection with the incident which took place shortly after midnight.

Detective Sergeant Dave Strange said the victim was first approached by the man onboard the 11.23pm National Express service from Colchester to Diss:

“The 28-year-old victim, who suffers with cerebral palsy, was approached by a man who began speaking to him.

“When the train arrived at Diss, both men left the service and the victim remained on the platform while the man seemed to walk off and leave the station.

“However, a few moments later the man returned, approached the victim from behind and struck him on the back of the head with a brick, knocking him unconscious.”

When the victim came round he discovered that £80 cash had been taken from him. A member of the public helped him report the incident to police and he was taken to Broomfield hospital in Chelmsford for treatment to his injuries.
