Suffolk couple Adrian and Gillian Bayford have separated.
The pair won the Euromillions jackpot of £148 million on Friday 10th August 2012 and are the second largest winners ever in the UK.
At a press conference by lottery organiser Camelot after their win, Mrs Bayford said she hoped that the windfall would allow the family to spend more time together. She said:
“It will be fantastic to spend more time as a family now. The money has come at the right time for us and is going to benefit the whole family.”
Despite vowing that the money would not change them, it has been confirmed by Gillian Bayford that their marriage has ‘broken down irretrievably’ and that they have separated.
Mr Bayford is believed to have confirmed that he has left the seven-bedroom Georgian mansion worth £6 million that the couple bought after their win and moved to a £500,000 four-bedroom house nearby.
A spokesman for Gillian Bayford said:
"Gillian requests that the media respect her and her children's privacy and that of their wider family at this time. Gillian will be giving no further comment about this matter either now or in the future.”
