Detectives investigating a serious assault in Great Yarmouth over the bank holiday weekend have charged two men.
Twenty-four-year-old Todd Esherwood, of Saxon Road, Great Yarmouth and 29-year-old Tony Smith, of Sidney Close, Great Yarmouth, will appear at the town’s magistrates’ court this morning charged with grievous bodily harm with intent.
It follows an incident which happened in the early hours on Saturday 5 May outside the Bricklayers Arms pub on Nelson Road Central.
Police were called at about 1.55am following reports of a disturbance and officers arrived on scene to find a 40-year-old man with serious head injuries. The victim remains at the James Paget University Hospital where his condition is described as critical.
A third man arrested in connection with the incident, a 23-year-old, has been released on bail pending further enquiries.
