Police are appealing for information after an attempted robbery in Ipswich this morning (3rd January).
It happened in Goring Road at around 2am. A 29-year-old man was delivering takeaway food to an address in the road but as he pulled up in a car outside the property two men approached his vehicle.
One of the men appeared to be holding a knife and the other had a hammer. The 29-year-old was threatened through the open window of the car and told to hand over the food and cash. He drove away but as he did so he was grabbed and felt a blow to his shoulder.
He managed to get away but sustained a red mark and possible bruising to his shoulder. Nothing was stolen.
The two men involved are described as white, in their late teens to 20s, of skinny build, and both wearing dark clothing including hooded tops with the hood up.
Officers attended the area to make a search and made enquiries at the address the food was to be delivered to. The occupants there hadn't ordered the food.
Police are asking anyone who was in the area around this time or anyone with information about the two men involved to call Ipswich CID by dialling 101 or Crimestoppers, anonymously if required, on 0800 555 111.
