Ipswich: Woman In Hospital After Serious Assault

A woman is in hospital in a critical condition after being seriously assaulted in Ipswich earlier.

The ambulance service called police at around 3:20pm today (1st November) to a property in Garrick Way, Ipswich where a woman was found unconscious with serious injuries. It was reported that an altercation had occurred.

Officers are currently searching the local area to try and locate the offender and an area of Cromer Road has been closed whilst enquiries take place.

The woman has been taken to Ipswich Hospital and is in a critical condition.

Anyone who witnessed the incident or who may know who is responsible is asked to contact Ipswich Police on 101 immediately.

UPDATE 18:12 01/11/2013

Police have arrested two men. A 55-year-old man from Ipswich was arrested on scene on suspicion of attempted murder.

A second man, also from Ipswich, was arrested a short time later in Cromer Road on suspicion of attempted murder.

The pair have been taken to the Martlesham Police Investigation Centre where they await questioning.

Officers remain in Ipswich as an investigation into the incident begins and scenes remain in place in Garrick Way and Cromer Road.
