Lowestoft: Carnival Parade Called Off

13 April 2012, 10:58

For the second year running the organisers of the Lowestoft carnival say they won't be running a parade through the town centre.

It has been an annual event for the last 40 years. It has been one of East Anglia’s largest carnivals, with thousands of people attending.

The Friends of the Lowestoft Hospital say that they “regretfully' would not be arranging a carnival parade this year, and unless circumstances changed, they would not be in a position to do so again for the foreseeable future.

The Friend’s Chairman Mrs. Pat Rayner said “We do not wish to stage inferior processions to those successfully put on in the past and would rather our supporters have happy memories of the fun times we have all had together”

The Friends of the Lowestoft Hospital say they will continue to fund raise for the local hospital and medical services, and are in the process of organising local events for the future.
