Lowestoft: Robbery at Co-Op Store

Police are appealing for information after a robbery at the Co-Op store at Westwood Avenue just before 10pm last night, Thursday 16 August.

The man – described as of fat build, around 5ft 6ins – 5ft 8ins tall, wearing a large blue hooded jacket, black bottoms, black footwear, white gloves and a ski mask or similar over his face – forced open doors at the front of the shop, entered the premises and threatened two female members of staff who were in the process of closing up.

He appeared to speak with a Liverpudlian accent.

He then picked up two leather cash bags, containing money, from the shop counter and fled.

No weapons were seen during the incident and no one was hurt.

Police are asking anyone who was in the area around 10pm last night to come forward if you saw anything suspicious and officers are also keen to hear from anyone who may have information about the robber. If you can help please call DC 1173 Barnes at Lowestoft CID on 101.
