Lowestoft: Second Man Arrested

A second man's been arrested after two women were assaulted during a robbery at a house in Lowestoft over the weekend.

A second man has been arrested following an aggravated burglary incident at a home in Cambridge Road in Lowestoft.

Two women - a 28-year-old and a 47-year-old - were injured following the incident around 2.40am yesterday, Monday 27 August. The 47-year-old woman, who sustained head injuries, remains in Addenbrookes hospital where she is described as being in a critical but stable condition. The 28-year-old was discharged from the James Paget yesterday.

Police investigating the incident executed warrants at two addresses in Lowestoft this afternoon, Tuesday 28, and a 30-year-old man was detained, on suspicion of attempted murder, close to one of the properties.

He has been taken into custody where he will be interviewed by detectives.

The 36-year-old man arrested yesterday afternoon on suspicion of conspiracy to commit robbery remains in custody at Great Yarmouth Police Investigation Centre where he is also being questioned in connection with the incident.

Both of the arrested men are from Lowestoft.

Enquiries are continuing and a cordon remains in place at the address in Cambridge Road. Police are currently working on the basis that this was not a random attack.
